Marginalia Bible Support
Marginalia Bible is a free iPad Bible you can write in with Apple Pencil. Your notes stay beside the words you wrote them next to.
Need help, or found a problem? Email david.luttrull@gracetoanderson.com. Please include your iPad model and what you were doing when it happened.
Writing notes
Open a chapter and write in the margin to the right of the text. Notes are tied to the words beside them, so they scroll with the text. Tap the pencil button at the top right to show or hide the pencil tools.
If the margin runs out, tap Continue on a journal page at the end of the chapter to add blank pages to it.
Writing without an Apple Pencil
Open the Page menu (the page icon at the top right) and turn on Draw with Finger. One finger then writes and two fingers scroll. It's on from the start on an iPad that has never been used with an Apple Pencil.
Syncing with iCloud
Notes sync through your own iCloud account. If they aren't showing up on another iPad, make sure both are signed in to the same Apple Account, and that iCloud is turned on for Marginalia in Settings › [your name] › iCloud. The status line at the bottom of the Notes page tells you whether notes are syncing.
Translations and API keys
The KJV and ASV are built in, and the NET and NLT work without setup. The ESV, NIV, CSB and NASB are copyrighted, and their publishers give out free API keys for personal use. Choose API Keys from the translation menu; it has links for signing up and explains each step.
Backing up and restoring
On the Notes page, tap the ⋯ button and choose Back Up Everything to save all your notes, journal pages and bookmarks to one file. Restore from Backup adds a backup's contents back without replacing anything you already have.
Getting back something you deleted
Deleted notes and journal pages wait in Recently Deleted (on the Notes page, under ⋯) for 30 days before they're removed.
